Annette M. (Spitzley) Bierstetel, of Westphalia, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019. She was born April 24, 1944, the daughter of Edward and Marcella (Rademacher) Spitzley. She was a devoted and faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mother’s Society, and she volunteered on several parish committees.
She married Leon L. Bierstetel on August 7, 1965 and they celebrated 53 years of marriage together. Annette enjoyed family time, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved staying active, was a homemaker, cleaned houses, and had babysat for several families. Annette also loved to travel and play cards with friends.
Preceding Annette in death are her parents; brothers, Edward, Daniel, and Larry Spitzley; sister, Marlene Bauer; in-laws, Burt and Harry Hersch, Thomas Weber, Jerome Bauer, Eileen Spitzley, and Judy Bierstetel. She is survived by her beloved husband, Leon Bierstetel; daughter, Stacey (Doug) Nurenberg; son, Brad Bierstetel; grandchildren, Abby (Jake) Gross, Nathan (Elizabeth) Nurenberg, Kyle and Celena Nurenberg; great-grandchildren, Aleah and Landon Gross and Baby Nurenberg on the way; brothers, Leroy (Clover) Spitzley and Steve (Georgia) Spitzley; sisters, Mary Lou Weber and Kathy (Don) Hengesbach; brothers-in-law, Dave Bierstetel, Ben (Chris) Bierstetel, Paul (Kathy) Bierstetel, Robert (Susie) Bierstetel, Alvin (Jan) Bierstetel, Jim (Jane) Bierstetel; and sisters-in-law, Blanche Spitzley, Monica Hersch, and Shirley (Bill) Halfman.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 4, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. The rosaries will be prayed on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
