Charles Edward Ball, age 93, of Vermontville, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018. He was born March 30, 1925 in Alma, Michigan, the son of Lyle V. and Naomi (Blackford) Ball. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII.
Preceding Charles in death are his wife, Adah Ball and sister, Barbara Hopkins. Charles is survived by his step-daughters, Lana (Faro) Gervasi of Lansing and Tina (Wayne) Wieber of Westphalia; step-sons, Noble (Rosemary) Hartwick of Byron Center and George (Debra) Carpenter of Jenison ; special caregivers for many years, Pamela (Wayne) Stine of Vermontville and their children, Tyrus Stine, Cassey Tien, Zachary (Meghan) Carpenter, and Emily Carpenter. Also, special caregivers Vicki and Russ Wieller and special friends Diane Keeler and Shannon Beebe; 7 grandchildren Zachary Carpenter, Emily Carpenter, Michael Gervasi, Jordan Wieber, Kristen Wieber and Dustin Wieber and Elizabeth Hartwick ; several great-grandchildren; and sisters, Virgina Schooley and Joanne Miller.
The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
