James John Schrauben, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the age of 79. He was born October 26, 1938 in Fowler, Michigan, the son of Peter and Irene (Simon) Schrauben. Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a devoted employee at General Motors for several years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Eagles, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents; beloved wife of 46 years, Catherine; a daughter and son at birth; sister, Joan Salmond; brother, Bill Schrauben; and sister-in-law, Jeanie Schrauben. Surviving Jim are his son, Brian Schrauben; sisters, Mary Jane Sammons, Donna (David) Hawkins; and brother, Peter (Joany) Schrauben; and several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 11. 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N.
