Reynold Norbert Thelen, loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away December 18, 2019, age 79. He was born on August 30, 1940 in Westphalia and was the son of Leonard and Marian (Smith) Thelen. Reynold was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the Michigan National Guard. Reynold worked at General Motors for 33 years. He loved golfing and watching all sports, especially the Pewamo-Westphalia Pirates. On July 24, 1965, he married Ann Louise Stewart. Reynold was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leon; niece, Renee Casari; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Margaret Stewart; and brother-in-law, Jim Stewart. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Ann; children, David (Nancy), Daniel (Tammy), and Diana (Dane) Hengesbach; grandchildren, Jason, Cody and Ellissa Thelen, Alex, Abbey, David and Luke Tyson, Trenton, Haley, Kyle and Kennedy Thelen, and Kara and Trey Hengesbach; siblings, William (Joan), Marie (Leon) Armbrustmacher, Robert (Mary Ellen), Jeanette (Joe) Pung, Ervin (Mary Jane), Gary (Linda) and Kathy (John) Eklund; in-laws, Doug (Brenda) Stewart, Sue Stewart, Mary (Bill) Rudy, Dale (Robin) Stewart, Philip (Shelley) Stewart, Marcia (Mike) Wilson, and Perry (Sarah) Stewart; and many nieces and nephews. On Sunday, December 22, 2019 a rosary will be prayed at 5:00 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Eric Weber on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia with a luncheon at the parish hall.
