Bernadine H. Martin, age 93 of Westphalia, Michigan passed away on March 21, 2022 at her home. She was born in Fowler, Michigan on June 29, 1928, the daughter of Edward and Antoinette (Simon) Schueller. Bernadine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mother’s Society.
She is survived by her sons, Ed (Monica) Martin, Jim (LouAnn) Martin, Gary Martin, Steve Martin, and Tom Martin; daughters, Mary (Mike Donaldson) Patrick, Helen (Jim) Simon, Sandy Hearld, and Ann Schaefer; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Shirley Martin; in-laws, Adelene Martin, Jim and Alice Becker, Clair and Catherine Thelen, and Jack Martin; and many nieces and nephews, in particular, her special niece, Ann Rademacher. Bernadine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Martin; sisters, Marie (Sr. Olivia) Schueller, Adeline Thelen, and Gertrude Arens; twin brother, Bernard Schueller; infant granddaughter, Kelsey Martin; brothers-in-law, Linus Thelen and Donald Arens; and in-laws, Pauline Goerge, Clarence and Gen Simon, Bernard and Eileen Schafer, Clifford Martin, Dale Martin, Marie Martin, and Dolores Schueller.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Compassus Hospice Caretakers, Adrianna, Jackie, and Trish, special caregiver, Brooke Pline, and all of Bernadine’s neighbors who helped her out over the years, especially, Tom Fedewa.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 3:30 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. The family will also receive visitors one hour prior to the funeral mass on Friday. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
