On Sunday, June 8, 2025, heaven gained a beautiful soul as Bonnie was called home. Born on August 21, 1941, in Lake Odessa, Michigan, Bonnie May (Piercefield) Kinsman was one of 13 children born to William and Thelma (Catlin) Piercefield. From an early age, she embraced the values that would shape her life—faith, resilience, hard work, and an unwavering love for family. Throughout her life, Bonnie’s faith remained her guiding light. Even when faced with the challenges of Alzheimer’s, she met each day with grace, courage, and a quiet strength that inspired all who knew her. Her dignity never wavered, and neither did her love for those around her. Bonnie shared a beautiful life with her devoted husband, Bill Kinsman, always hand in hand, side by side. Together, they made memories traveling across the country—from NY to Hawaii and beyond—finding joy in every journey, especially those that brought them closer to family. Family was the heart of Bonnie’s world. She cherished every gathering with her siblings and took immense joy in visiting her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her laughter, warmth, and that unforgettable “Bonnie smile” became a beacon of comfort to so many. For over 25 years, Bonnie enjoyed and loved the people she served at Meijer in Ionia—not just as an employee, but as the heart of the store. She became more than a familiar face; she was a friend and a bright spot in the day for countless customers. Her ability to uplift others and help them realize their joy was a true gift from God. Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her sisters, Janet King and Wilma Waters; and her children: Doug (Deanna) Kinsman, Jolene (Gregg) Kageyama, and Rick (LuAnn) Kinsman. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Andy Kinsman, Briehn Kageyama, Chad Kageyama, Kiana Kageyama, Cole Kinsman, and Kyra Kinsman; and great-grandmother to Maddox Kinsman and Elleana Mays.……Mom, thank you—for the sacrifices you made, for the unconditional love you gave, and for being the heart of our family. Your strength, grace, and spirit will live on in us forever. You were our matriarch, our compass, our safe place. We celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy that will never fade. As you enter heaven’s gates, may you find peace in the arms of those you loved and missed—reunited with your parents and siblings. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, from 10 a.m. – 12 noon followed by the Memorial Service at Lehman’s Funeral Home, Portland, MI. A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. at The Wagon Wheel, E. Grand River, Portland, MI—where stories will be shared, laughter will be heard, and yes, there will be her famous taco salad and margaritas for all. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or West Michigan Hospice in memory of Bonnie. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com
