Brad R. Bierstetel, of Westphalia, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024. He was born December 3, 1975, the son of Leon and Annette (Spitzley) Bierstetel. Brad was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia, and he spent the last few years of his life residing in Grand Rapids.
Brad was an avid video gamer. It did not matter what type of gaming system it was; he was always ready to play. He especially loved any WWE game and often challenged his nephews, Nathan and Kyle, and nephew in-law, Jake, to a match. When Brad was not playing video games, he enjoyed Tractor Pulling with his dad and attending the races at Crystal Speedway with his best friend Brian Baldwin. Brad’s other hobbies included fishing, spending time with family, going for walks to and from the local library near his home in Grand Rapids or to the gas station to grab a pop, indulging in any type of sweet treat and going out to eat. Brad was a light to all who knew him, it did not take much to make him happy, he always welcomed everyone with a ‘hello,’ and even during the most difficult moments in his battle with cancer, he never once complained and could be found with a smile on his face.
Preceding Brad in death is his mother, Annette Bierstetel. Brad is survived by his father; Leon Bierstetel; sister Stacey (Doug) Nurenberg; nieces Abby (Jake) Gross and Celena Nurenberg; nephews Nathan (Elizabeth) Nurenberg and Kyle (Lainie) Nurenberg; great niece and nephews, Aleah, Landon, and Hayden Gross, Abram, Rome, Silas, Amias and baby Nurenberg on the way; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
