Carl Roy Fangboner, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 78. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Carl was a devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather whose warmth, humor, and steady presence touched everyone who knew him.
Carl grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, and dedicated his life to education, beginning his career teaching middle school math before finding his true calling in the fourth-grade classroom, where he spent most of his teaching years. Known for his corny jokes, warm smile, and compassionate nature, he was a mentor both in and out of the classroom, always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer sound advice.
Outside of work, Carl found joy in the simple pleasures of life: fishing on quiet mornings with his children, tending to his garden, and spending time with his beloved chocolate labs. Music was a constant companion throughout his life, a love shared by his wife Jeanne, a retired elementary music teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marian Fangboner, and his brother, Gary Fangboner. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jeanne Fangboner; his siblings Glen (Chris Waldofsky) Fangboner and Gail Groothuis; his children Jared Fangboner, Jon (Julia) Fangboner, and Abigail (Peter) Liu; and his cherished grandchildren Cheyenne, Jordan, and Ellie.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Saints Church of Jesus Christ, 125 E. Stoddard Street, Charlotte, Michigan. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
