Carol Simon Obituary

Carol Irene Simon, of Pewamo, went to be with Our Lord, God and Savior Jesus Christ on July 22, 2025, at the age of 68. She was born on December 3, 1956 to Ronald and Florence (Schafer) Schrauben. Carol was a graduate of Pewamo-Westphalia High School, class of 1975. Carol married her high school sweetheart, love of her life and best friend Ron Simon on June 17, 1978. Together they raised three beautiful daughters, Lindsey, Tonya and Ashley. Carol worked 20 years with the State of Michigan within the Department of Social Services. After retiring early from the State, Carol served the community over 20 years at the St. Joseph Parish as the bookkeeper and dedicated Religious Education Instructor.

Carol’s faith in God and the Catholic Church was very important to her. She was very dedicated to her daily prayers and had a positive outlook on life. Carol had a heart of gold and was always lending a helping hand. She enjoyed painting ceramics, playing wild rummy, euchre, and setback with family and friends, and was a master seamstress. Carol cherished every moment spent with her grandkids. Carol and Ron enjoyed traveling and always loved their time vacationing in Florida and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Preceding Carol in death are her parents Ronald and Florence; stepmothers Phyllis and Corrine; infant sister, Monica; Mother and Father-in-law Alice and Roy Spitzley; Father-in-law Peter Simon. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 47 years, Ron Simon; daughters, Lindsey (John) Palmer, Tonya (Ron) Coleman, and Ashley O’Neil; grandchildren Lucas, Brenden, Alice and Jack Palmer; siblings Don (Norma) Schrauben, Aggie Schrauben, Sharon (Jerry) Maurer, Tom (Pam) Schrauben, Karen (Louie) Martin, Diane (Gary) Giganti; sisters-in law Barb (Ben) Wesley, Therese (Jeff) Hudak, Beth (Dennis) Hagan, Dawn (Dave) Simmon; brothers-in-law Bruce (Kristine) Simon, Scott (Lori) Simon; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the medical staff of 5 West at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, especially the nursing staff.
