Charles "Chuck" Elon Goodman

Charles Elon Goodman, age 82, of Portland, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025. He was born on July 10, 1942, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Smith) Goodman. A 1960 graduate of St. Patrick High School, Chuck proudly served in the National Guard and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus #2168 and St. Patrick Church. He retired from the State of Michigan after 22 years. He generously volunteered his time for many years, assisting the church with their accounting.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judie Goodman; his sons, Mark and Steve Goodman, and daughter Donna (Matt) Moran; grandchildren Ella (Michael) Keel, Luke Goodman, Kailee (Paul) Wunderlich, Lauryn and Alex Moran, and Olivia and Elaina Goodman; sisters Jean Schafer and Jude (Jan) Baxter; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Chuck was an avid euchre player who cherished time spent with his weekly card group and family—even when getting set on a loner hand. A true numbers man, he never met an Excel spreadsheet he didn’t like. Above all, his greatest joy came from being surrounded by family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery.
