Colleen Marie Mauren (Hurley) passed away peacefully in Michigan on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the age of 60. Colleen is survived by her former husband Mark Mauren, children Joshua James Mauren; Sarah Margaret Mauren (Taylor Wood) and Rachel Frances Mauren; grandchildren, Philomena Mauren, Logan & Rogue Wood; brother, Mark Hurley; sister, Susan (Gary) Williams and their son Christian. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Patricia Hurley; brother, Brian Hurley; and sons, Noah Richard and Eijah Robert.
Colleen was born on November 5, 1963, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to James and Patricia Hurley. She attended Alphonsus, Cumberland, C.W. Otto, and J.W Sexton schools. She was a Big Red - Class of 1981. Colleen earned an associate’s degree from Lansing Community College and a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University, both in Psychology.
Colleen was an accomplished Operations Manager for over 25 years at Meijer Distribution in Delta Township. She worked hard, demanded much, and coached many. After graduating from Just Faith, Colleen became a champion of Social Justice. She freely offered her time, talent, and treasure. She volunteered with Loaves & Fishes homeless shelter in Lansing. She was a long-time volunteer with the Diocese of Grand Rapids in their prison ministry program. She was a honored member of the Portland District Library Board as a Trustee for Portland Township for over four years. Colleen attended St. Patrick Church in Portland for over 35 years. During that time, she was a lector, eucharistic minister, Catechist, Pastoral Council Member and past President. She was a member of the Christian Mother’s & Women's Guild at St. Mary parish in Westphalia, Michigan.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at St. Patrick Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will be in Portland Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 East Bridge Street, Portland. A Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
