Daniel Krieger Obituary

Dan Krieger lost his long battle to cancer on April 13, 2021. We want to thank everyone who kept him in their thoughts and prayers as he fought this battle. This gave us many more months with him to build memories which we will cherish forever.

Dan was preceded in death by his father and mother, Russell and Esther (Huhn) Krieger.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lois (Raterink) Krieger, daughters, Danielle Krieger of Grand Rapids, MI and Kelly (Nick) Krieger-Perry of Ionia, MI, his brother, Lawrence (Marlene) Krieger of Ionia, and sister, Karen Krieger of Portland, as well as his grandchildren, Baileigh and Ashton Perry of Ionia and his close and loving nieces and nephews, along with numerous cousins.

Dan was a 1968 graduate of Portland St. Patrick High School, Portland, MI and received a BSBA degree from Central Michigan University in 1972. He worked for the State of Michigan for 30 years and retired in 2002.

Dan and Lois traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada, visiting all 50 states and 57 of the 62 National Parks, along with 9 Canadian Provinces, as well as St. John and St. Thomas US Virgin Islands.

Dan loved hunting, fishing, and landscape gardening, along with anything he could do outdoors with Mother Nature as his guide - because of his love of nature, Dan has requested that anyone who can, plant a tree in his memory. The family also requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dan’s name to Lansing/Ionia Area Hospice.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no public service per his request. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland, MI. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
