Daniel Robert Riker

Daniel Robert Riker, age 59, of Ionia was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. Dan was born in Lansing, Michigan, the son of Robert and Sylvia (Ferris) Riker. Dan was a graduate of Portland High School Class of 1980 where he made many lasting friendships that continued throughout his life. He worked for Snyder Farm Supply and later was a Pioneer seed salesman. He completed the mighty DALMAC bicycle ride multiple times and he enjoyed showing his Hereford cattle. The highlight of Dan's cattle showing career came on his birthday in 2010 when his bull, Gus was named the Reserve National Champion. More recently in October, Dan and his wife, Robin were inducted into the Michigan Hereford Association Hall of Merit for breeding, showing and promoting the Hereford breed.

Preceding Dan in death are an infant sister and brother and his mother-in-law, Laurey Bower. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Robin (Bower) Riker, his parents, Robert and Sylvia Riker, siblings, Jane Riker, Steve Riker, and Dennis (Angie) Riker; father-in-law, Jim Bower; brother-in-law, Michael (Jennifer) Bower; nieces and nephew, Kendra (Marc) Irrer, Sierra (Ryne Musbach) Riker, Rachel (Skyler) Selby, and Mitch Riker; his beloved canine companion, Sassy; and several special friends. 

A visitation and time for sharing memories will take place on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.
