It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy (Dot) Coulson who left us peacefully at the age of 96 on February 20, 2025. She was born on December 3, 1928, and spent a lifetime teaching others about life and being a good listener.
In 1947 Dorothy married Lewis Coulson of Ionia, until his death in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Deb Dangerfield, daughters-in-law, Michelle Coulson and Cindy Coulson, son-in-law, Craig Stevens, sisters, JoAnn Foley and Esther Hampleman.
She is survived by her children, Linda Stevens, Fred Coulson, Michael (Susie) Coulson, Lori Cooper (Mike) and John Coulson. Her sister, Barb Snavley and bothers, Rick and Tom (Jan) Hansen.
Dorothy was known for her remarkable talent for baking. She spent countless hours making cakes for every occasion, delighting friends, family, and neighbors with her delicious creations. Her cakes were more than just desserts; they were a symbol of her love and care for those she cherished.
She always talked about enjoying drinking coffee with her Aunt Colleen and later in life, her granddaughter, Jenny and great-granddaughter, Lilly would take her for coffee often to continue the tradition. Those memories will be cherished. (even though she always said she was not a coffee drinker...with coffee in hand).
Her grandson, Jade Dangerfield was her caregiver and made sure she always had someone to talk to.
She was a cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother, whose presence will be missed by all who knew her. Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of laughter, and the memories of countless gatherings and repeating stories with the family that made us all laugh.
There will be no service per her request. Burial will be at a later date and family will be contacted at that time.
She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and stories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her and her beloved dog, Ellie.
