Douglas Lynn Kissane, age 77, of Portland, went to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Saturday, August 22, 2020. He was born on March 28, 1943, the son of Francis and Dorothy (Wilcox) Kissane. Doug was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Doug worked at the Lansing Drop Forge for 30 years. During that time, he also served as President of the Local 724. After retirement, he spent many years as a real estate agent in the Portland area. He loved golfing, bowling, camping, fishing, and hunting and he took great pride in planting and growing his vegetable garden. Doug loved cooking & was the barbecue master. He also enjoyed making wine and painting with his grandchildren.
Preceding Doug in death are his parents and brother, James Kissane. Doug is survived by his loving wife of almost 56 years, Carleen (Stump) Kissane; children, Lynn (Marc) Nichols, Donna (David) Crim, Michael (Ann) Kissane, and Amy (Michael) Gorham; grandchildren, Brandon (Elizabeth) Gleason, Autumn (Tom) Densmore, Brooke (Mark) Simpson, Evan, Austin, and Connor Pelfrey, Michelle (Brandon) Trierweiler, Alex, Riley, Leah, Isabelle, and Cora Kissane, Coty Kissane, and Logan and Ryan Lefke; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marlene (Larry) Schrauben, Linda Wohlfert, Tom (Toni) Kissane, Kathy Clark, and Pat (Mike) VerPlanck; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Sparrow Hospice and Doug’s caregivers, Michelle, Nancy, Gina, and Lyndsey for the compassion and care they gave to him.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Mike Alber at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors provided by the Portland VFW #4090. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.
