Obituary

Duane Theodore Irrer, age 82, of Portland, passed away January 3, 2021. He was born on February 5, 1938 in Riley Township, Michigan, the son of Clarence and Lorena (Pung) Irrer. On June 19, 1959, Duane was a member of the first graduating class of Lansing Community College where he earned an Associate of Science in Electrical Technology. Duane was a proud member of the U.S. Army Reserve, being honorably discharged on September 30, 1966. He was an excellent cook and baker- pies and cookies being his specialty. Duane operated the Mess Hall while in the reserves and continued cooking for others at the Conservation Club and the VFW in Portland and Lyons. He worked many places but the majority of his work was helping people with electrical and equipment problems and helping people move from place to place. Duane had a wonderful sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. He was a good friend to many and will be missed by all.
