Ellen Mary Bailey

Ellen Mary (Platte) Bailey passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 81. She attended St. Patrick Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary #4090. Her interests included gardening and flowers. For many years Ellen along with her sisters, Bernice and Rose Marie were proud members of The Portland Red Hatters. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Viola (Simon) Platte, Sisters: Kathleen (Herman) Miller, Bernice (Joe) Esch, Rose Marie (Herman) Gensterblum, and Beatrice Platte, brothers: Jerry, Edward (Shirley), Delbert (Marguerite), and Armon; brother-in-law, Frank Koenigsknecht; and Bailey in-laws, Larry and Loretta. Ellen was married to Kenneth for 50 years, and they had two children: Monica (Daniel) Johnson and Greg Bailey. She is survived by her sisters: Joann Koenigsknecht, Ann (Paul) Thelen and brother Bernard (Sharon) Platte, sisters-in-law, Charlotte Platte, Joane Platte, and Noreen Bailey along with good friends, Kathy (Dave) Berquist, Kathleen Fedewa Bengel, and Judy Brahman,  along with many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at St. Patrick Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Danby Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
