Ellen Louise Tyler

Ellen Louise Tyler, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away on August 22, 2023, at the age of 83. She was born on October 17, 1939, in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Raised in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, Ellen cultivated some friendships, which lasted a lifetime.  Some of her favorite things she enjoyed were bowling, game shows, bingo, scary movies, shopping, and a deep and unwavering adoration for Engelbert Humperdinck, proudly embracing the title of his number one fan!

Ellen worked for the State of Michigan, First American Title Insurance Co., Haddad’s Gift Shop, and her most important role, was a homemaker.  Her beautiful blue eyes, smile, and good humor touched many lives at Edgewood Retirement Center, Grand Haven Retirement Community, and Ingham County Medical Facility. 

Ellen's family will remember all the delicious meals she prepared for family gatherings.  She was an excellent cook!

Ellen was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Williams, her father, Kenneth P. Williams, her first husband, Henry (Bud) Johnson, her second husband, Gary Tyler, and her brother, Kenneth P. Williams, Jr.

Her legacy lives on through those she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughter, Lynette Messer (Sid), as well as her son, Chris Tyler (Kate Cosgrove), her brother, Ted Williams, grandchildren, Michael Messer and Juniper Tyler, as well as her stepchildren, Rick Tyler (Julie), Mike Tyler (Teri), and Tanya Roche (Mark). Her memory also lives on in the hearts of numerous nieces and nephews.

In celebrating Ellen Louise Tyler's life, we remember a woman who had a shy and mischievous good nature and enjoyed the simple things in life. 

Rest in peace, mom.  We will miss your love and silly humor.
