Obituary

Esther Lavonne Irrer, passed away April 30, 2023 at the age of 88. She was born in Lyons, Michigan on July 30, 1934, the daughter of LeRoy and Marie (Steele) Mulnix. Esther was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland and she worked at the Ionia County Commission on Aging. Esther enjoyed doing puzzles, watching birds, and sewing. She also loved watching the Detroit Tigers and Notre Dame Football. Esther will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Irrer, Jr.; her parents; and all of her siblings, son, Tim Irrer. Surviving are her children, Lavonne (Mike) Franck, Marge Irrer, Eugene Irrer, Phillip (fiancé, Juanita) Irrer, and Nancy (Vern) Griswold; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland. A luncheon will follow at the Ionia Moose Lodge in Ionia.
