Evah L. Baker, of Portland, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born in Richland, Michigan on June 30, 1931, the daughter of Louis G. and Ina L. (Porter) Rose. Evah worked for over 30 years at Lear’s Grocery where she met many friends along the way. She knew what she wanted and was not afraid to tell you. Evah also had a fun-loving side and enjoyed playing practical jokes. She and her husband, John enjoyed traveling together. Her family was very important to her, and she was proud of each and every one of them.
Evah is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Ina Rose; husband, John Baker; sisters, Thelma (Leo) Bird and Donna (Harry) Farrington; and brother, Ken (Mae) Rose. Surviving Evah are her brother, Ronald (Geraldine) Rose; nieces, Holly Rose, Tonya Rose, and June (Pat) Serne; nephews, Alan (Sue) Rose and Jim Rose; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Gary Coleman at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at Portland Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the First Baptist Church, Portland.
