Obituary
Evelyn “Joy” Thorpe was a loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who passed away suddenly on August 27, 2023 at the age of 63. Joy was born to Eileen and Donald Pearce on January 13, 1960 in Ashburton, New Zealand and was the third of 4 children. She worked as a CNA for over 20 years at SKLD in Ionia after moving to Michigan in 2000.
She loved tending to her plants, spending time with her grandchildren, and relentlessly caring for those around her including her dogs. She was known for her wittiness, unapologetically genuine attitude, and sense of humor.
Joy is survived by her husband of 23 years, Michael Thorpe, as well as her children Matthew (Sukanya) Scully, Dean Scully, Shannon Scully, Craig Scully, Caitlin Thorpe, and stepdaughter Courtney (Randy) Guernsey. 6 grandchildren Carter Thalison, Coleman Thalison, Zeyla Scully, Hayden Scully, Avery Scully, and Emily Barrett, and siblings Geoffrey (Harry Wong) Pearce, Robin (Tony) Warren, and David Pearce.
