Frances Marie Phillips

Frances Marie Phillips of Grand Ledge passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of ninety. She was born on September 28, 1934, to Russell and Beatrice (Moore) Cass. As a child she attended schools in East Lansing and she graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in 1953. Later in 1954 she married William Phillips, and they shared 54 years together. They lived in Lansing until retirement and moved to Lake of the Pines and wintered in Tucson, Arizona.

In her early years she was a Girl Scout Leader, and she was also known to be seen on a blue Yamaha motorcycle or even a snowmobile. Frances had many hobbies that included sewing/quilting, collecting antiques, camping, games, reading and even started walking at the age of seventy-nine where she even completed 5k’s, 10k’s and finished an 8k on her 80th birthday. She even walked the Mackinaw bridge in her seventies.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; her sons-in-law Paul Bunker, and Arthur Dewley. She is survived by her son Tom, and her daughters Karin Dewley, Kristie (Timothy) Ziemer, and Kathie Phillips; brother Steve (Genie) Cass; grandchildren Kyle Dewley, Courtney (Daniel) Hyland, Bradley (Bernadette) Ziemer, Matthew (Taylor) Ziemer, Daniel (Victoria) Ziemer and Ruby Eubank; great grandchildren, Hunter Dewley, Axton Cody, Myra Ziemer, Oliver Ziemer, Astrea Andrews and Owen Ziemer, Eloise Ziemer and one on the way.

The memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Lehman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Beckett presiding. The family will receive friends and family starting at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will take place at the Wagon Wheel following the service. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
