Francis A. Arens, age 92, of Westphalia passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. He was born on June 11, 1929, the son of Edwin and Verena (Rademacher) Arens. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Westphalia for many years and the Knights of Columbus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Fisher Body after 33 years of service. Francis enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards and bowling. He enjoyed his retirement to the fullest.
He was preceded in death his parents; wife, Barbara and several of his siblings. Surviving are his daughter, Patricia (Arens) Hampton; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Arlene Taylor, Anthony (Sandy) Arens and Joe (Eunice) Arens; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Denise Cook and her children, Julia and Kyle.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. Military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post #3733. For those wishing, contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in memory of Francis.
