Frank Henry Shortz

Frank Henry Shortz, 82, of Portland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023. He was born on March 4, 1941, in Lake Odessa, the son of Otto “Dale” and Maxine (Austin) Shortz. Frank retired from General Motors after 35 years of service. He could fix anything and was always up for a challenge when it came to helping his family with building projects. Frank enjoyed hunting, camping, and going to the Silver Lake sand dunes with his buggy. Frank will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding Frank in death are his parents. He is survived by the light of his life and wife of 61 years, Linda (Chapman) Shortz; children, Michelle (Marc) Wood and Michael (Sonia) Shortz; two grandchildren, Ashley Shortz and Cameron (Aimee) Shortz; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Shortz; and brothers, Gary (Nancy) Shortz and Marvin Shortz.

The Funeral Service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in honor of Frank.
