Gary Dean Doubler, age 84, formerly of Monroe, passed away after many years of decline, at Delta Retirement Center, on Monday, June 29, 2026, with his children by his side. Born January 6, 1942, in Loves Park, Illinois, he was the oldest son of Ira and Marie “Rita” (Jacobson) Doubler.

Gary moved to Monroe with his family as a teenager and graduated from Monroe High School in 1960. He attended Michigan Technological University, where he studied engineering. After two years at college, he returned to Monroe to marry the love of his life, Cinda Brost. They met at East Raisinville United Methodist Church as teenagers and were married December 1, 1962. Together they raised two children, Deanna and Stephen, during their 60-year love affair!

Gary had a good life filled with family, friends, and many varying interests. In his younger years he was a blacksmith, enjoyed gardening, tinkered with ham radio, and many other technical and creative endeavors. He was president of the Monroe Band Boosters, joined the Masons, and was active at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. In addition to being a hydraulic engineer at Ford, Gary was an avid reader, especially books regarding the founding fathers and the constitution, and never stopped learning. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Washtenaw Community College, took calculus classes online through MIT for fun and went back to Monroe Community College in his late 60’s to learn German! Even at his assisted living facility, he tutored staff members in algebra and taught them to play chess.

Most importantly Gary loved his family. His main goal in life was to be a good provider and loving husband and father. He was proud to see his children thrive in their careers, but never fully recovered from the passing of Cinda in June, 2020.

He is survived by his children: Deanna Doubler-McLeod (Hugh McLeod) of Lansing, MI, and Stephen Doubler of Rochester Hills, MI, brother and sister: Bob Doubler, and Connie (Doubler) Sherman, and several nieces and nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Cinda (Brost) Doubler, parents, Ira and Rita Doubler, his in-laws, Chet and Grace Brost, his brother-in-law, Don Sherman, sister-in-law, Bev Doubler, brother-in-law Gene Brost, and niece, Lisa (Doubler) Geiger.

At Gary’s request, there will be no funeral. He will be interred with his wife, Cinda, at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Monroe, MI. A celebration of life will take place at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
