George Leon Miller

George Leon Miller, age 85, of Lyons, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at home on January 28, 2021. He was born in Lyons, the son of George M. and Anna (Spitzley) Miller. George was a life-long farmer, worked construction, and drove a semi-truck for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping in his spare time. He was a member of the Grand River Conservation Club in Portland and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Lansing.

Preceding George in death are his parents; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; and daughters, Kareen (Bill) Sage and Janice (Ted) Thelen. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lois (Johnston) Miller; children, Patrick Miller, Marian Dyer, Timothy (Marcia) Miller, Charlie (Debbie) Miller, Gary Miller, and Sandy (Bob) Martin; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Kathy) Miller; and sister, Florence Johnston.

The graveside service will be held in the spring. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3-6 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Interment will be in Keefer Cemetery. For those wishing, contributions may be made to the Grand River Conservation Club or Ionia Area Hospice in memory of George.
