Portland, MI

Age 67, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on May 21, 2021 at the home of her brother, Richard (Charlene) Hans, after a courageous battle with Kidney Failure and Pancreatic Cancer.

She was born March 7, 1954 in Ionia, MI, the biological daughter of Richard and Ilene (Ward) Manning. Yvonne was loving raised by her foster parents, John and Anna Sanchez, in Pewamo, MI. She attended school in Pewamo and graduated in 1973. She worked with her foster mother Anna as a Nurse’s Aid in an Adult Foster Care Home and also in a Nursing Home. She married Gary Austin on June 30, 1979 at the First Baptist Church, Alma, MI.

Yvonne had a loving heart, child-like innocence, and a great sense of humor. She enjoyed music, playing games (especially Yahatzee, Rummy, and Dice 10,000), her many pets, and befriending and socializing with everyone who crossed her path.

She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Richard Manning & Ilene (Frank) Fockler; foster father and mother, John and Anna Sanchez; husband Gary Austin; infant daughter, Elizabeth Yvonne Austin; sisters Debra Kay (Manning) Dominguez and Katherine June (Hans) Wiseman. She is survived by her son, Michael Lynn Austin (Lesia Wonsey) of St. Louis; granddaughters Elizabeth and Hailey Austin and their mother, Christa Austin of St. Johns; siblings Richard (Charlene) Hans of Portland; Michael Manning of South Carolina, Troy Manning of Kansas, Renee (Howard) Schofield of South Carolina, Allan (Chris Mull) Fockler of Lansing, and Lisa (Lucas) Murray of Grand Rapids; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Sue Fox and Sally Austin of Alma, and Kathy (Tom) Austin-Morrison of Canada; and special friend, Dennis Epler of St. Louis.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date with interment at Wright Cemetery, Alma. A special thank you is given to the staff of Hospice of Lansing for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Yvonne and her family.
