James John Keilen, age 91, of Westphalia, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He was born November 8, 1930, the son of Walter and Odelia (Platte) Keilen. Jim was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a lifelong farmer, who truly lived by the motto “faith, family, and farming”. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 63 years, Corneila; brothers, Leon, Donald, and Larry Keilen and an infant brother, Joseph; and brothers-in-law, Dan Weber and Thomas Droste. Surviving are his children, Sue (Jay) Hill of Mason, Linda (Gary) Thelen of Westphalia, Robert (Diane) Keilen of Westphalia, Joyce (Mike Damas) Keilen of Grasonville, MD, Diane (Rick) Davarn of Pewamo, and Kate (Duane) Schafer of Fowler; grandchildren: Justin (Jessica) Hill, Erin (Joey) Schmeling, Collin (Elizabeth) Thelen, Rachel (Brad) Spitzley, Matt (Kristi) Keilen, Stefan Damas, Sarah (Ryan) Fowler, Brian (Amanda) Davarn, Courtney (Jeremy) Miller, Zach (Chelsea) Rudat, and Brittney Rudat; 18 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sisters, Betty Weber, Janet Droste, and Joan (Don) Schmitt; and sisters-in-law, Agnes Keilen and Peg Keilen.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 5:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia.
