Jane Honsowitz Obituary

Jane B. (Pohl) Honsowitz, of Portland, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on August 31, 2022. Jane was born on April 18, 1951, the daughter of Leon and Frances (Schueller) Pohl. She was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland for many years. Retiring in 2014, Jane devoted more than 18 years of service at Auto Owners Insurance where she made many lasting friendships. Jane brought joy into every room she entered- she was full of life. Jane was an excellent cook and baker; her delicacies were enjoyed by all during many camping trips over the years. Jane loved Easter and spending time with her family. She could be found laying in the sun, watching classic movies, or dancing the night away on many special occasions. She never missed her children and grandchildren’s ball games and events; her family was the light of her life. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

Preceding Jane in death are her parents; beloved husband of 40 years, Mike Honsowitz; sisters, Barbara (Art) Clark, Linda Chickering, and Nancy Ann Pohl; and sister-in-law, Sheila Pohl. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michelle (Randy) Hodge, Todd (Wendy) Honsowitz, Ryan (Sarah) Honsowitz, Scott (Keelie) Honsowitz, and April Nickols; grandchildren, Savannah (Austin), Samuel (Amelia), Rayna, Rylee, Isaac, Isabel, Emma, Mattie, Rhett, Ethan, and Josephine; great-grandchildren, Brynley, Jordyn, Wade, and Baby Hodge on the way; siblings, David Pohl, Diane (Bob) Redick, Deb (Doug) Schneider, Steve Pohl (special friend, Dixie); brother-in-law, George Chickering; very special friend, Brad Fedewa; and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Mike Alber at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3-7 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
