Jean Marie (Trierweiler) Thelen

Jean Marie Thelen, age 85, of Westphalia, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021. Jean was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Christian Mother’s Society. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their sporting events, playing cards, along with playing the piano, and reading. She worked for Oldsmobile for a short time and spent several years working in catering. Along with the love of her life of 37 years, Bruno, she enjoyed dancing and golfing, as they did everything together as a couple. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Bruno; son-in-law, John Wirth; grandson, Noah Thelen; great-granddaughter, Ella Cook; several sisters and a brother; and several in-laws on the Trierwieler and Thelen side of the family. Surviving are her children, Barbara Kurkowski, Sandy (Keith) Kohut, Bob Thelen, Dorothy (Carl) Pohl, Charlie (Sherry) Thelen, Tony (Angie) Thelen and Shirley (Perry) Thelen; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Mary Jane Schoendorf, Kay Huston and Marilyn (Bernard) Thelen; in-laws, Bernadette Thelen, Regina (Harold) Simon, Rita (David) Witgen, Genny Platte, Mary Platte and Aggie (Ken) Stump; and many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Lawrence at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. The family would like to give a special thank you to Jean's in home care givers and to the Hospice of Lansing-Stoneleigh Residence for the care and compassion given to their mother.
