Jeffrey Lynn Hoover, age 73, of Ionia, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026 with his family by his side. He was born on May 10, 1953 in Portland the son of Frank and Vera Hoover. Jeff lived his life the “old school way”, he believed in being polite, and a gentleman and was known as a jokester by all. He had a big heart, who loved his family and would welcome anybody into his home in times of need. He enjoyed boxing, wrestling, auto racing, playing the lottery and going to the casino. Jeff and his wife Lisa enjoyed spending time in the mountains of Tennessee. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Dennis (Brenda) Hoover, sisters, Patricia Gilbert and Norma Jean Hoover; his dog, Lightning. Surviving are his wife, Lisa (England) Hoover; children, Erin Jammer, Jason Herbstreith, Benjamin Herbstreith; grandchildren, Mason Jammer, Hailie Jammer, Olivia Herbstreith, Lilly Herbstreith, Blake Herbstreith and Brook Herbstreith; his dog, Bear. The Memorial Service will be celebrated by Rev. Dan Stoneham at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia County Humane Society in Jeff’s name.
