Joann V. Theis

Joann V. Theis, age 90, of Portland took the Lord's hand and went to heaven on Wednesday evening, March 29, 2023. She was born on October 10,1932, the daughter of Harold and Pauline (Feldpausch) Leik. Joann was a member of St. Patrick Church and graduated from Portland High School. She was born and lived her entire life in Portland, she enjoyed bingo, playing cards and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bob and Bill Leik. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Ed; children Sandy (Mike) Rutherford of Westfield, IN, Mike (Beth) Theis of Portland and Steve (Sparky Mowery) Theis of Dimondale; grandchildren, Kelli (John) Servizzi, Eric (Trisha) Rutherford, Brian (Erin) Theis, Jessica (Jake) Simon and Ashley (Kyle) Klein; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Rosalee Sochor; brother, Jim (Diane) Leik; sister-in-law, Inez Leik; many nieces and nephews. The family is at peace knowing Joann will be sitting on her porch waiting for them in heaven. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. Patrick Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-7 p.m., Friday at Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Church or to the The Soup Project in Portland.
