Joanna Catherine (Pline) Beard

Joanna Catherine Beard, age 90, of Portland, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021. She was born on August 15, 1930, the daughter of Martin and Bertha (Feldpausch) Pline.

Joanna was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland. She loved to play cards, bowling, camping, and road trip to the family cabin in Boon. She also had a great love for animals. Joanna looked forward to the annual girls shopping weekend and she cherished every memory made along the way. She was a proud wife of a farmer – her #1 pride and joy was her family.

She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Donald A. Beard. Surviving are her 8 children: Annabelle (Dale) Huhn, Donald “Tex” (Rosemary) Beard, Terry Beard, Gary (Deb) Beard, Dan Beard, Bill (Laura) Beard, Chris (Karen) Beard, and Andy (Becky) Beard; 23 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren with two on the way. She was one of twelve children in the Pline family and is survived by seven brothers and sisters.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 4:00 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E.
