Joanne Margaret (Sprunger) Parker

Joanne Margaret Parker, 79, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away April 8, 2021. She was born in Jackson, Michigan to Fredrick Kenneth and Vera Bell (Dexter) Sprunger. Joanne was a friend to all and brought so much light and joy into the world. She was a faithful Christian and a devoted member of Beginning in Grace Church. Among many of the fond memories Joanne’s family will continue to cherish were her outstanding Halloween parties that she hosted every year. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cared deeply for her family. She always had room at the table for one more person, and always had a bedroom if someone needed it for a day, a week, or a year.  Her house had “rubber walls” and could always make room for another if needed. She was a very gracious woman.

Preceding Joanne in death are her parents; beloved husband, Mervin Parker; siblings, Bobby Sprunger, Ruth Cain, and John Sprunger. Left behind to cherish her legacy are her children, Deborah Stringer, Brad Stringer, Teresa Huhn, and Les Stringer; grandchildren, Diedra Steward, Brandi Stringer, Brittany (Scott) Horn, Tara (Derek) Keasey, Emily Huhn, Hannah Huhn, Jarod Huhn, Victoria Stringer, and Jessica (Donnie) Jones; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna (deceased, Mitchell) Stringer and Louise (deceased, James) Raum; former husband and friend, Bill (Dorothy) Stringer; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and will be announced. For those wishing, contributions may made to Joanne’s favorite organizations: Lansing City Rescue, RAVE – Women’s Shelter, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or The American Cancer Society.
