John Patrick Manning Obituary

John Patrick Manning, of Portland, passed away on January 16, 2025 at the age of 80. He was born on September 26, 1944, the son of Donald and Florelle (Morelle) Manning. John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Germany at the Rhein-Main Air Force Base. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland and St. Gerard Catholic Church in Lansing. John had a passion for travel, enjoyed visiting casinos, and was a professional photographer. For many years, he owned and operated Photo Connexion in Lansing, where he shared his love for the art with others.


Preceding John in death are his parents; infant daughter, Amy Manning; and brother, Michael Manning. John is survived by his sons, Vince (Colleen) Manning, Derek (Jamie) Manning, and Ben Manning; grandchildren, Marissa Manning, Isabella O’Dell, Greyson Manning, Evelyn Manning, Sawyer Manning, and Rhys Davis; former wife, Cathy Clark; sister, Nancy (Larry) Schueller; brother, Steven Manning; and several nieces and nephews.


Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland.


The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow in Portland Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Portland VFW Post #4090. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
