John Henry Polhamus

John H. Polhamus, of Portland, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025 at the age of 91. He was born on February 7, 1933, the son of James and Marion Polhamus. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Polhamus; son, David Polhamus; stepdaughter, Jacqueline Martin; and stepson, Mark Stahl; and several brothers and sisters. John is survived by his children, Debra (Rick) Doak and Laurie Hansen; stepchildren, Lynne (Ron) Judge,  (Karen) Stahl, Michelle Remington, Kyle (Janice) Stahl; 8 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Karen Stahl and brother, Jay (Marsha) Homan and sister-in-law, Janet Homan.

John was a faithfully devoted member at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He will be missed by all who knew him.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the mass at the church. Rite of Committal will be in Millerburg Cemetery, Charlotte. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes.
