John Edward Wcislo

John Edward Wcislo, of Portland, age 83, passed away peacefully on November 08, 2018 after a long courageous battle with COPD. John was born August 6, 1935 in Chicago, IL to John Edward Sr. Wcislo and Margaret Viola (Theres) (Wcislo) Benedyk. John was a proud US Army Veteran.  John retired from Sun Oil Company after 31 years of service.  He loved to read and spend time with his family and friends.  He also enjoyed spending time at Mackinac Island.  But mostly he loved his family and hanging out with his grandchildren. John is survived by the love of his life of 59 years, Patricia (Zelinski) Wcislo of Portland; loving daughters, Deborah Thelen of Portland, Donna (John) Abbate of Punta Gorda, FL; son John (Bethany) Wcislo of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Nicole Thelen (Peter Pohl Jr.) of Portland;John Abbate, Jr., Jessica Abbate and Michael Abbate of Punta Gorda, FL; Jonathan Wcislo and Ashlynn Wcislo of Wichita, KS; sister Joella (Wcislo) Bredwell of Tinley Park, IL; brother-in-law Michael (Louise) Zelinski of Chicago, IL; several loving nieces, nephews and cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Joseph Benedyk, in-laws Joseph and Eleanor Zelinski, brother-in-law William Bredwell, brother-in-law Joseph (Jerry) Zelinski, sister-in-law Helen Zelinski and son-in-law Wayne Thelen. A special thank-you to McLaren Greater Lansing and McLaren Hospice staff for their loving care and support. Per the family's wishes there will be no service or funeral.
