Joseph Le Du Obituary

Joseph “Joe” Robert Le Du was born in Astoria, Queens on July 14, 1970 (Bastille Day).  He was extremely proud of his NYC roots and loved everything about Queens – the diversity, culture, food and music, just to name a few.  He lived there for 40 years before, with some reluctance on Joe’s part, his wife talked him into moving to Michigan to raise their two boys.  Glory and Joe were married for 16 years and after living in Queens for 11 years, she thought it was only fair that Joe gave Michigan a try.

Joe was a self-made man who spoke three languages and had an outstanding, 27-year career at the Oracle Corporation. His accomplishments in the IT world were many, and he was admired by friends and colleagues not only for his dedication to his work, but for his humor, intelligence,  compassion and honesty.  He was one of the finest human beings his friends have ever known. He was also a proud and ardent fan of Polo clothing and hip-hop music, interests sparked in the streets of his NYC youth, which continued throughout his life.

Joe also embraced his French heritage and was passionate about cooking.  His parents, having come over directly from Brittany, France, brought with them traditional French recipes and cuisine that Joe was able to carry on.  It is a good thing his family loves to eat!

With all Joe’s talents and accomplishments, none of that even came close to matching Joe’s true passion and biggest accomplishment, his boys – Damien and Derek.  Damien and Derek and Joe’s wife, Glory, were truly his whole heart and their boys both represent the best of him.

On November 4, 2020, Joe set out to embark on his next journey and will be so sadly and extremely missed by those he is leaving behind.  Joe wanted us to celebrate his life and to rest assured, now that he has been reunited with his parents, Joseph and Anne Marie Le Du; two brothers, Jean Pierre and Marcel Le Du; and mother-in-law, Karen Lee, who all have passed before him, he is also celebrating and watching over us all. Bon voyage, dear Joe.

Surviving Joe are his beloved wife, Glory (Tews) Le Du; cherished sons, Damien and Derek Le Du; brother, Lucien (Dawn) Le Du; sisters, Annie (Tom) Ziek and Patricia (Dell) James; several special nieces and nephews; and many loving family and friends.
