On June 19, 2024, Joshua “Josh” Lee Hoppes died at age 44 in Eagle, Michigan.
Josh was born in Lansing Michigan on November 16th, 1979, to Mary (Spedoske) and Gerald “Jerry” Hoppes of Portland, MI. Josh was a talented singer and guitar player, known for ability to match any pitch and play any song. Josh loved to collect rocks of all shapes and sizes, always keeping an eye out for those one in a million containing diamonds. Josh was known for his knowledge of motorcycles, his curiosity of taking them apart and putting them back together just to see how he could make it run better. Above all, Josh was a beloved father and grandfather who could always put a simile on their face and make them laugh.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Jerry and Mary Hoppes and beloved granddaughter Lucilla. Living on to carry his memory and share his stories are his children Patience Hoppes, Lynden (Becca) Hoppes, Jada Hoppes, and Tristen Highsmith; grandchildren Anecia Toma, Iverson Toma, and Isaiah Highsmith; sisters Missy (Larry) Thelen and Carrie Hoppes; brothers Pete (Marlena) Hoppes and Tim (Angie) Hoppes.
A celebration of life will be held July 2, 2024 from 3-7p at the Grand River Conservation Club in Portland. Please consider bringing a dish to pass and riding your motorcycles to honor Josh. Close family will gather on July 3rd at 2:30p at Portland Cemetery with Deacon Randy Hodge presiding.
