Judith Ellen Rockey, age 80, of Pewamo, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, March 5, 2021. She was born to Robert and Zona (Martin) Burns in Hubbardston on November 27, 1940. Judy was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and going for walks. Judy loved visiting her sisters, card parties, the casino, and shopping. She was very proud of her 37 years of sobriety. Most of all, Judy loved and cherished her family and the time she spent with them.
Judy joins those who passed before her in Heaven, including her parents; beloved husband of 55 years, Harold Thomas Rockey; brothers, Danny, Bill (Catherine), Robert, and Phillip Burns; sisters, Patricia Gallagher, Christine (Bill) Thurston, and Mary Esch; in-laws, Joseph and Elizabeth (Tannery) Rockey and several in-laws in the Rockey family. Surviving Judy are her children, Debra Rockey of Fowler, David (Christine) Rockey of Lyons, Deanne (Mark) Brochu of Potterville, and Colleen (Brad) Marshall of Grand Ledge; special son, Eric (Suzanne) Gallagher; grandchildren, Cory Tate, Ashley (Trent) Hengesbach, Joel Rockey, Peyton Rockey, Ethan Rockey, Taylor Kapustka, Savannah (Ron) Detzler, and Nick Marshall; great-grandchildren, Mya Thelen, Ainsley Kapustka, Jade Hengesbach, and McKenna Detzler; sister, Nancy (David) Speckin; in-laws, Nancy Curtis, Fred Esch, and Joan Rockey.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Darrel Kempf at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia.
