Kenneth Lee Bailey of Portland passed away on June 30, 2025, at the age of 77. He was a member at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Portland VFW Post #4090. Ken served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969, then joined the National Guard from 1972 to 2004. He loved working on helicopters and enjoyed airplanes. He was married to his wife Ellen Mary (Platte) for 50 years and they shared two children, Monica (Daniel) Johnson and Greg Bailey.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife Ellen, parents Norwood and Cecilia (Ziegler), and brother and sister-in-law Larry and Loretta, in-laws Kathleen (Herman) Miller, Bernice (Joe) Esch, Rose Marie (Herman) Gensterblum, Beatrice Platte, Jerry Platte, Edward (Shirley) Platte, Delbert (Marguerite) Platte, and Armon Platte. He is survived by his children, his sister Norrine Bailey, and in-laws, Joann Koenigsknecht, Ann (Paul) Thelen, Bernard (Sharon) Platte, Charlotte Platte, Joane Platte, and many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mike Alber at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at St. Patrick Church, Portland. The Rite of Committal will follow at Danby Cemetery.
