Laura “Suke” A. VanDyne, age 100, of Lyons, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026. She was born on May 20, 1926, the daughter of Henry and Grace (Edwards) Rogers.
Suke was a devoted member of the Lyons-Muir Community Church. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, playing cards, and the occasional trip to the casino. An avid sports fan, she proudly cheered for both Michigan State and Michigan, along with the Tigers, Pistons, and Lions. Above all else, Suke treasured her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Earl VanDyne; son-in-law, Joe Lemke; siblings, Dorothy Bates, Francis “Mike” Rogers, Harry Rogers, Raymond “Ike” Rogers, Harold “Pete” Rogers, Lyle “Bud” Rogers, Clyde “Sock” Rogers, John Rogers, Lester “Jack” Rogers; infant brothers Frankie and Bobby; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Surviving are her children, Gini (Bruce) Read, Richard (Jackie) VanDyne, Janet (Jim) Cory, and Brenda Lemke; grandchildren Dennis, Eric, and Luke VanDyne, Rebekka (Shaun) McGee, Nicholas Lemke, and Jenna (Adam) Obsniuk; great-grandchildren Madeline and Amelia McGee, Audrey, Oliver and Asher Obsniuk, and Hadley Lemke; brother Kendall “Wimp” (Virginia) Rogers; special friend, Michelle Allen with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Lyons-Muir Community Church, 1074 Olmstead Rd., Muir, MI 48860 with Pastor Tim Trommater presiding. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until the time of the service ay the church. Interment will follow at Lyons Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church.
