LeRoy Elmer Spitzley, age 84 of Westphalia, passed away May 8, 2024, at Hazel Findlay in St. Johns, Michigan. LeRoy was born to Edward and Marcella (Rademacher) Spitzley on May 15, 1939, in Pewamo, Michigan.
LeRoy work for Clark Construction, Village of Westphalia and volunteered as fire fighter (Hat #13) for Westphalia Fire Dept. and retired out of General Motors after 30 years.
He loved spending time in the garage cleaning and keeping up on his truck and tractors, he was very meticulous on any vehicles he owned. He always looked forward to the 4th of July when family would gather at the house to watch the parade and he would fire up the grill for the kids, sisters, nieces, and nephews that would sit on the front lawn watching the parade.
LeRoy is survived by his daughters, Anna Rolph of Lansing, Elizabeth (Bill) Nurenberg of Portland, and Rebecca (Dean) Stedman of Colorado.
Also surviving are his grandchildren, David (Jenny) Leik, Ryan (Chelsea) Leik, Danielle (Ben) Jorae, Megan Nurenberg, Jordan (Molly) Leik, Eric (Stephanie) Stedman, and Travis (Taryn) Stedman; great-grandchildren, Caden Nurenberg, Cohen Soles, Keaton, Kiara, and K’Lee Nurenberg, Sophia, Charlotte and Hazel Leik, Alexander Trowbridge, Nathan Leik, Wyatt and Owen Leik, and Isaac Stedman; sister, Kathy (Donald) Hengesbach; sister-in-laws Blanche Spitzley, Georgia Spitzley, and brother-in-law, Leon Bierstetel.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Clover; daughter, Lisa Spitzley, son-in-law, Michael Rolph; granddaughter, Amber Spitzley; parents, Edward and Marcella Spitzley, in-laws, Loyal and Clara Marcham, siblings, Edward (Eileen) Spitzley, Daniel Spitzley, Larry Spitzley, Marlene (Jerome) Bauer, Mary Lou (Thomas) Weber, Annette Bierstetel, Steve Spitzley; sister-in-law, Carolyn Spitzley and Sandy Patrick; and in-laws, Mildred (Fred) Matthews, Pauline (Ira) Welch, Laconia (Donald) Lott.
A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated by Fr. Peter Lawrence at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Mary’s Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
