Lois Ann Walker, of Ionia, went to be with the Lord on November 5, 2025 at the age of 83. She was born in Sidney Township on December 30, 1941, the daughter of James C. and Ethel M. (Dillenback) Chapin. She was a devoted member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Lois lived her faith through service and compassion. She volunteered countless hours at the Ionia Hospital, Ionia Free Fair, and grief support groups at her church, always offering comfort and kindness to those in need. Lois’ love was truly unconditional—she would give the shirt off her back and had a heart big enough to care for everyone she met. In her early years, she worked at Ionia Manor and later found her calling serving others as an EMT in Ionia. She cherished her travels to Florida with her beloved husband, Bill, and she will be remembered as the most wonderful cook. Those who knew Lois will never forget her wise words or quick wit. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Lois is survived by her children, Denise (Todd) Ward, Theresa (Jeff) Porta, and Martha (Dave Brooks) Bailey; stepchildren, William (Mai) Walker, Curt (Elizabeth) Walker, and Bethany (Craig) Hennings; her close friend, Ron Kaminski; as well as 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, William; her parents; sisters, Phyllis (Lavern) Adams and Mary O'Mara; brothers, Richard (Pat), Robert, Charles, and Gary Chapin; niece, Joy Slingerland; and nephew, Steve Chapin.
