Loretta M. Spitzley, age 83, of Westphalia, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. She was born on October 24, 1937 in Grand Rapids the daughter of Leo and Claribel (Bengel) Gross. Loretta was a member of St. Mary’s Church as well as the Christian Mother’s Society. She enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and was known for her homemade bread. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a flight attendant for a couple years, spent 22 years as a bus driver and 19 years working at Simon’s Flower Shop. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her children, Lisa (Charles) Klein of Brighton, Mark Spitzley of Maple Rapids, Linda (Morris) Kelsay of Fairmount, IN, Michael (Margaret) Spitzley of St. Johns, Timothy Spitzley of Brighton, Kimberly (Jim Castro) Spitzley of Folsom, CA and Thomas (Kim) Spitzley of Westphalia; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Karen (Gary Eichman) McGraner, Charles Gross, Gerald (LouEllen) Gross, Michael Gross, Mary Pat (Randall) Walter, and Lynette (Ronald Schneider) Niles; many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 12:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N.
