Marcella Marie Rademacher, 102, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026 at The Brook Assisted Living, Portland, Michigan. She was born on September 20, 1923 in Fowler, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Rose Thelen. She married Eldred Rademacher on October 19, 1948 and they celebrated 57 years of marriage before Eldred died in January, 2005.
In addition to being predeceased by her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughters, Christine Cherluck (Walt) and Carol Rademacher. She is survived by her children, Keith (Lucy) Rademacher, Lee (Ann) Rademacher, Kathryn (Jay) Schneider, Lloyd (Renee) Rademacher, and Gregory (Gabriella) Rademacher, 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Eugenia (Alban) Arens and Helen (James) Thelen. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses: Martin (Martha) Thelen, Raymond (Therese) Thelen, Donald (Mary Ann) Thelen, Clarence (Rosene) Thelen, Germaine Thelen, Joanne (Erwin) Miller, James (Helene) Thelen, and Jerome (Arlene) Thelen. Additionally she was predeceased by in-laws, William (Frances) Rademacher, Antoinette (Joseph) Hafner, Agatha (James) Feldpausch, Denis (Mary Lou) Rademacher, Roderick (Mary) Rademacher, Margaret (Melvin) Schneider, Daria (Mark) Pung, and Harold (Alice) Rademacher.
She will always be remembered for her green thumb. Many visitors and folks driving by the homestead on Grange Road will remember enjoying her fence row of flowers. She found time to nurture beauty even while raising seven children. A lifetime learner, she was always willing to learn new skills, learning to text on smart phones even when she was well into her 90’s. She had a great laugh and sense of humor and will be missed by all that knew her.
Special thanks to Lloyd and Renee Rademacher who provided many extra hours of care for Marcella during her five years at The Brook. Also, special thanks to The Brook Assisted Living, as well as Gentiva Hospice for all their excellent care.
