Margaret M. Wohlfert, age 96, of Westphalia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. She was born in Westphalia on February 26, 1925, the daughter of Arthur and Rosalia (Schueller) Smith. Margaret was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Christian Mother’s Society, and the St. Joseph Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, crocheting, bowling, and traveling.
Preceding Margaret in death are her parents; beloved husband of 67 years, Leon Wohlfert; son, Richard Wohlfert; brother, Charles Smith; sisters, Helen Jones, Irene Hruscik, Marie Taylor, and Rita Blundy; and several in-laws. Surviving are her loving children, Steven (Theresa) Wohlfert, Janet (David) Claus, Jerry (Cathy) Wohlfert, Paul (Carol) Wohlfert, David (Sheri) Wohlfert, Mark (Cindy) Wohlfert, Marvin Wohlfert, Allen (Cathy) Wohlfert, and Marlene (James) Schumacher; daughter-in-law, Toni (Stan) Wirth; 41 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; sister, Janette (Jerry) Kramer; sister-in-law, Laura Pline; and many special nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Lawrence at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 23, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 9-10 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia.
