Marilyn Dilley Obituary

Marilyn Ann Dilley

September 28, 1943 – June 15, 2025

Marilyn Ann Dilley, 81, of Muir, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 28, 1943, at Sheridan Hospital to Audrey and Oliver Rittenburgh, Marilyn lived a life defined by strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her daughter Vicki Briggs (husband Denny Briggs), and her son William Floyd Dilley Jr.

Marilyn was the cherished wife of William Floyd Dilley and a proud, loving mother to Connie Schrauben (with Randy Thurlow). She was the heart and soul of a family that adored her: granddaughters Carissa May (with Tyler Dawson), Kalie Briggs, Audrey Briggs (with Patrick O’Connell), and Corey Koelsch (with Lakin Ward) Misti Yurkinas; and her treasured great-grandchildren Ellee, Ezra, Ryder, Wyatt, Lydia, Nyle, and Aubrey Hazel.

A dedicated and tireless worker, Marilyn gave over 15 years to Chrysler, 10 years to Gibson, and retired from General Motors after more than 20 years of service. Even after retirement, she continued working by cleaning homes—because she never stopped giving.

Marilyn found joy in the simple things—sewing, baking, and most of all, being with her family. She had a unique gift for making others feel cared for, and her selfless, kind-hearted nature left an impression on everyone she met. She was the strongest woman we have ever known—caring, empathetic, and always doing what was right, no matter what.

To say she will be missed is an understatement. Marilyn was the rock of her family—the best mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend anyone could ever ask for. Her absence has left a profound hole in our hearts and our lives, but her love and lessons will live on forever in the many lives she touched.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held Thursday, June 19, from 1pm to 4pm at 122 W. Superior St., Muir, MI 48860 (behind the village office.)
