Mark Francis Simon, of Pewamo, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at the age of 73 after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Mark was born in St. Johns on August 7, 1951 to Leo and Laurina (Thelen) Simon. Mark was raised in Westphalia and on November 12, 1971, he married his sweetheart, Beth George. Mark served in the Army Reserves and went on to work at General Motors for 34 years before his retirement. He also worked at Jem-Lot Dairy for several years. Mark had a true passion for farming; he could speak about it for hours to anyone willing to listen. His dedication to his community extended beyond his love for agriculture. He served on the Village of Pewamo Council for numerous years and contributed as a volunteer firefighter. Mark found joy in watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and hosting casino bus trips for North Country Tours where he made many lasting friendships throughout the years. Mark is remembered for his devotion to his family and community. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Preceding Mark in death are his parents; siblings, Ed Simon, Alice (Robert) Pline, Mary Ann (Paul) Esch, Karen Simon, and infant sister, Kathleen Simon; father and mother-in-law, Leo and Elda George; brothers-in-law, Mark George, Dave George, and Ron Rademacher; and sisters-in-law, Carol Simon and Kathy Simon.
