Mark Anthony Hufnagel aka “Smokey”, age 74, born on September 11, 1947 in Westphalia, Michigan died on Thursday, April 21 when God called him home. Mark was blessed to pass away peacefully with his wife by his side surrounded by family and close friends. Mark was born in Westphalia, Michigan and a member of St. Mary’s Parish. He was hard working, a devoted husband, and a loving father. He enjoyed farming, camping, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Perhaps his favorite past time activity especially towards his later years was trips to the casino and rightfully so as he was lucky enough to win most times! Mark would always find a way to smile and make others laugh despite the hardships. He left a big impact on many lives. Mark is preceded in death by his parents Rosaline and Arnold Hufnagel. Mark is survived by his wife Leone Hufnagel; his children: Brian Hufnagel, Mike (Candace) Hufnagel, and Rebecca (Gary) Shergill; grandchildren: Tyler Frick, Ashley Hufnagel, and Ivori Hufnagel; and his siblings: Bob Hufnagel, Denny Hufnagel, Joann (Dan) Bengel, Debbie Hufnagel, and Nancy Hufnagel.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Peter Lawrence at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N.
